'American Idol' Alum Haley Reinhart Impressed By Jessica Sanchez
'When I saw Jessica Sanchez I knew she was a force to be reckoned with,' Reinhart tells MTV News.

On last week's episode of "American Idol," season 10's third-place finisher, Haley Reinhart, returned to the "Idol" stage and quickly reminded everyone why she got as far as she did in the competition. The sultry singer gave a rousing performance of her new song "Free," the first single off her debut album, Listen Up!, out May 22.
"It was a family reunion in many ways," Reinhart told MTV News on Wednesday of returning to the show. "I felt great about doing my own thing onstage. It just shows how much hard work does pay off. This is it. 'American Idol' got me here ... this is what I worked for."
Reinhart set herself apart from the other contestants last season with her distinctive voice and bluesy sound, and she credits her individuality as the key to her success. During her return to "Idol," Reinhart shared that advice with this season's finalists.
"I got to meet up with them for a little bit. I let them know: 'You're doing a great job showing who you are,' " Reinhart said. "I think they really were in tune what was happening last season, everybody found their lane. I fought for who I was and I'm like, 'Stick with your gut and listen to all these different opinions, but take what you need and go from there.' "
Looking back at her time on "Idol," Reinhart can identify with the struggles some of the contestants are having with song choices and judges' remarks, especially during the early stages of the competition.
"In the beginning especially, I was doing all these different kinds of genres because that's who I am, and I think they were a little confused. I added soul to everything and that was my thing. If I could switch it up, make it my own by putting a bluesy spin on it ... that was me," Reinhart said. "You can't do your exact style song every single week. You just gotta keep going with the flow and find your niche."
So who has impressed Reinhart so far this season? "I caught it a lot in the beginning especially, and right when I saw Jessica Sanchez, I knew she was a force to be reckoned with," Reinhart revealed. "She's got it going on. So good luck to her and the rest of them — they have great voices."

Cancer has affected the lives of millions of people all over the globe. While the treatments and methods have become stronger and the odds of surviving better, there are still unfortunate and ugly side effects. Many cancer patients are forced to undergo chemotherapy. While it fights cancer, it also causes hair loss, immunodeficiency and nausea.
Hair loss and being sickly is bad enough, but to be constantly sick to your stomach is like getting kicked while you?re down. Sadly, most medications for nausea are internal and keeping a pill or liquid medicine down when nauseas is practically impossible. So what options are there to help?
While eating is extremely difficult and sometimes impossible to handle, keeping the stomach satiated will relieve stomach aches. The choices of food are what make it hard. Often, to feel better means giving up fast food and eating healthy instead. The simpler the foods, the easier it is on the stomach. Plus, the more down to earth they are, the less strange smelling they tend to be.
A second course of action is natural medicine. This can involve herbs, oils or other methods like acupuncture or an acupressure wristband. The most common herbs for nausea are ginger and peppermint. Either can be put in a tea or sucked on. Ginger is also good for cooking with or candying for easier consumption. However, the availability of good ginger and peppermint can vary and is often hard to find. With cheap production and high sales on mind, many producers let the quality of the ginger go by the wayside.
Essential oils are a great way to deal with the nausea. Again, ginger and peppermint come in with great results for dealing with the tummy trouble. These oils can be diffused into the air by putting them on your hands and smelling them or placing in a machine called a diffuser to disperse them into the room. If the quality of the oils is high enough, they can be placed on the skin (usually on the bottom of the feet) or even taken internally to help alleviate the symptoms of the nausea. However, even if the bottle says ?one hundred percent pure therapeutic grade essential oil? it doesn?t mean it is safe for consumption. In fact nearly all the companies that produce it have warning labels that say it is not safe for internal use and not safe for use on children. If that is the case, all it is good for is the aromatherapy and since it isn?t as pure as it could be it might not be a viable solution to the problem.
Acupuncture has been practiced for thousands of years in the eastern cultures to fight off a variety of ills and realign the body when out of sync with nature and foods. Long needles are inserted into different points on the body to help correct the flow of energy and heal the body. However, this method is time consuming and not an at home option. It must be done by a licensed professional and normally requires several sessions to achieve the desired result.
Another option is using acupressure from small wristbands with a bead in it that is placed over the pressure point on the forearm. This point is associated with nausea and when the bead is left over it the nausea dissipates. This is assumed to be because of the disruption of the energy flowing along through the point. It is a great alternative for those who aren?t finding relief through herbs and oils, but don?t want to get poked with needles.

Pope wraps Cuba visit with Mass, Fidel meeting
HAVANA (AP) ? Pope Benedict XVI demanded greater freedom for the Catholic Church in Cuba during Mass before hundreds of thousands of people Wednesday in the shrine of the island's communist revolution, denouncing "fanaticism" that tries to impose its truth on others.
Benedict's unusually politicized homily was a not-so-subtle jab at Cuba's leadership before a vast crowd in Revolution Plaza. But he also used plain language to urge an end to Cuba's isolation, a reference to the 50-year U.S. economic embargo and the inability of 11 American presidents and brothers Fidel and Raul Castro to forge peace.
"Cuba and the world need change, but this will occur only if each one is in a position to seek the truth and chooses the way of love, sowing reconciliation and fraternity," he said.
With the country's leadership listening from front-row seats, Benedict issued his strongest denunciation of religious intolerance yet in Cuba, referring to the Biblical account of how people persecuted by the Babylonian king "preferred to face death by fire rather than betray their conscience and their faith."
He said people find freedom when they seek the truth that Christianity offers.
"On the other hand there are those who wrongly interpret this search for the truth, leading them to irrationality and fanaticism; they close themselves up in 'their truth' and try to impose it on others," he said from the altar in the shadow of the image of Cuba's revolution hero Ernesto "Che" Guevara.
While he did not mention the government by name, the comments were an unmistakable criticism of the Cuban reality, said the Rev. Joseph Fessio, a former student of Benedict. As his U.S. publisher, Fessio knows well the pope's message and how he transmits it, particularly the watchwords of his pontificate: truth and freedom.
"Does anyone in Cuba not know how the words themselves condemn the reality there?" Fessio said in an email.
Shortly after the Mass, Benedict met for about half an hour with Fidel Castro, a Jesuit-educated altar boy-turned-revolutionary leader whose 1998 hosting of Pope John Paul II marked a turning point in the church's relations with Cuba.
How much the pope's message resonated with ordinary Cubans in the plaza or those listening on state-television is unclear. Many in the crowd had trouble hearing him over the loudspeakers, and others said it was hard to understand the dense Biblical message delivered by the pope in a soft voice.
"I don't understand this Mass at all. I don't have an education in these things and I know nothing about religion," said Mario Mendez, a 19-year-old communications student. "On top of that, I can't hear anything."
Benedict didn't cite the government by name, but later in his homily urged Cuban authorities to let the church more freely preach its message and educate its young in the faith in schools and universities ? something that has been forbidden since the Castros came to power a half-century ago.
"It must be said with joy that in Cuba steps have been taken to enable the church to carry out her essential mission of expressing her faith openly and publicly," he said. "Nonetheless this must continue forward" for the good of Cuban society.
Cubans waving flags and banners large and small filled Revolution Plaza for the morning Mass, shielding themselves from the blistering sun with umbrellas as Benedict passed by in his white popemobile. President Raul Castro and leading Cabinet officials wore white, formal guayabera shirts, and Raul later climbed the steps to the altar and shook Benedict's hand.
"Viva Cuba! Viva el Papa!" the announcers shouted.
"The pope is something big for Cubans," said Carlos Herrera, a tourism worker who came to the plaza with his wife. "I come to hear his words, wise words for the Cuban people. That helps us. It gives us peace, it gives us unity. We do not want war."
But others said they were told to attend by their employers in a country where mass shows of support for Fidel have long been a mainstay of his half-century revolution. The plaza holds 600,000 people and appeared nearly full, though many Cubans drifted off after registering their presence with teachers and employers.
"We came with our class group and we are leaving because I can't handle any more," said a student who only gave his first name, Roberto, for fear he could get in trouble. "I came to do what my teacher said. I checked in, and I'm leaving."
In the days leading up to the pope's visit, some Cubans had said they resented that the government was now telling them to attend the Mass, despite preaching atheism until the early 1990s and remaining skeptical about the church's role in society.
Ahead of the Mass, dissident blogs and Twitter accounts carried allegations that members of the Ladies in White opposition group had been prevented from attending, and that some opposition leaders were detained, reports that were reiterated by Amnesty International.
Later, an Associated Press journalist saw a man in the crowd being briskly led away by people in civilian clothing after he shouted "Pope, don't leave until communism falls!" It was not clear who he was or where he was taken. The incident was similar to another during the pope's Mass in Santiago Monday, when a man shouted anti-government slogans before being hustled away.
Elizardo Sanchez, who monitors human rights on the island and acts as a de facto spokesman for the opposition, said he could not confirm any detentions because his mobile phone hadn't worked since shortly after the pope arrived on Monday. It was an experience shared by many other islanders and foreign journalists who could not make calls on jammed lines.
John Paul's shadow has loomed large over the trip, especially his remarks upon arrival at Havana's airport in 1998 saying Cuba should "open itself up to the world, and may the world open itself up to Cuba."
Benedict took that famous exhortation for openness one step further Wednesday by saying "Cuba and the world need change."
A huge poster of Cuba's patron saint, the Virgin of Charity of Cobre, covered the facade of one of the buildings facing the plaza near Che. The icon has been the spiritual focus of Benedict's three-day trip, timed to coincide with the 400th anniversary of the appearance of the diminutive statue.
Benedict visited the statue in a sanctuary near the eastern city of Santiago on Tuesday morning and prayed to her for greater freedom and renewal for all Cubans ? another gentle nudge to the government to continue opening itself up to greater reforms.
A top official in Havana quickly responded: "In Cuba, there will not be political reform," said Marino Murillo, Cuba's economic czar.
During a nearly hour-long meeting Tuesday with Raul Castro ? twice the normal length of papal audiences with heads of state ? Benedict asked that the government declare a holiday for Good Friday, when Catholics commemorate the death of Christ.
The request, like so much of this trip, was a follow-up of sorts to Cuba's decision to declare Christmas a national holiday in honor of John Paul's 1998 visit. Cubans hadn't had Christmas off for nearly 30 years.
The government didn't give an immediate response.
The date is not a holiday in the United States or much of Europe, including Italy or devoutly Catholic Poland, but is in many Latin American countries.

In a paper published online March 26 in Advanced Functional Materials, a team of researchers from the University of Pittsburgh and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) demonstrated that a nonoscillating gel can be resuscitated in a fashion similar to a medical cardiopulmonary resuscitation. These findings pave the way for the development of a wide range of new applications that sense mechanical stimuli and respond chemicallya natural phenomenon few materials have been able to mimic.
A team of researchers at Pitt made predictions regarding the behavior of Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) gel, a material that was first fabricated in the late 1990s and shown to pulsate in the absence of any external stimuli. In fact, under certain conditions, the gel sitting in a petri dish resembles a beating heart.
Along with her colleagues, Anna Balazs, Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering in Pitt's Swanson School of Engineering, predicted that BZ gel not previously oscillating could be re-excited by mechanical pressure. The prediction was actualized by MIT researchers, who proved that chemical oscillations can be triggered by mechanically compressing the BZ gel beyond a critical stress. "Think of it like human skin, which can provide signals to the brain that something on the body is deformed or hurt," says Balazs. "This gel has numerous far-reaching applications, such as artificial skin that could be sensorya holy grail in robotics."
Balazs says the gel could serve as a small-scale pressure sensor for different vehicles or instruments to see whether they'd been bumped, providing diagnostics for the impact on surfaces. This sort of developmentand materials like BZ gelare things Balazs has been interested in since childhood.
"My mother would often tease me when I was young, saying I was like a mimosa plant shy and bashful," says Balazs. "As a result, I became fascinated with the plant and its unique hide-and-seek qualitiesthe plant leaves fold inward and droop when touched or shaken, reopening just minutes later. I knew there had to be a scientific application regarding touch, which led me to studies like this in mechanical and chemical energy."
Also on Balazs's research team were Olga Kuksenok, research associate professor, and Victor Yashin, visiting research assistant professor, both in Pitt's Swanson School of Engineering. At MIT, the work was performed by Krystyn Van Vliet, Paul M. Cook Career Development Associate Professor of Material Sciences and Engineering, and graduate student Irene Chen. Restaurant Review ? Manning's Eat-Drink-Cheer Restaurant ? The ...
This past weekend I had the opportunity to eat at a restaurant that was hyped loudly; Manning?s Eat-Drink-Cheer at Harrahs Casino in New Orleans. I was looking forward to the experience as I had heard many great things about the restaurant and my wife, Melissa, grew up with the chef, Chef Anthony Spizale.
Manning?s is a sports bar with pretensions of being a fine dining restaurant. Unfortunately, it doesn?t do either greatly.
As a member of Weight Watchers, I went to the restaurant looking forward to a lighter meal and perhaps a non-alcoholic beer with my friends. I was disappointed, to say the least.
The appetizers fit the sports bar motif perfectly. They were a bit ?jazzed? up, which was fitting for a finer dining experience. My friends and I had the Cochon De Lait ?Poutine.? This was french fries covered with pulled pork in pepper jelly gravy and sprinkled with cheese curds. It was tasty and enough to give the six of us a decent taste.
The entr?e menu is limited with no really light options. Even the salads were either covered in fried foods or cheese. That is to be expected at a sports bar, but the hype around Manning?s made me feel that the restaurant?is more than just a sports bar. I ended up ordering the Cast Iron Catfish. That was a pan-fried?catfish fillet with seasonal vegetables covered with a brown butter meuni?re sauce. Not a particularly light choice, but the lightest I felt was on the menu.
Additionally, the beer selection was limited. There were maybe?twenty different bottled beers available and none on draft. There were no non-alcoholic beers at all. My only option was a Pepsi line soda or iced tea. I opted for unsweetened tea.
As the rest of my party was heading to Pat O?Briens and Bourbon Street after dinner, we opted out of dessert. The choices were good, but I wasn?t interested in any. When I do come back with my wife, I think I?ll try the Mason Jar Banana Pudding.
The food, overall was good; it wasn?t great. It really didn?t fit my expectations. The service, however, was outstanding. My tea never went dry for long and the food was served rather quickly.
The atmosphere was fitting for a sports bar. There were about thirty wide-screen televisions sets scattered throughout the restaurant. The sports memorabilia was great. The food and drink menus did not fit the atmosphere.
Manning?s is a restaurant I will go back to. My wife?will kill me in my sleep?if I don?t take her there. In general it does feel like a typical tourist trap restaurant with pretensions. With so many other, better restaurants close by, I won?t be recommending Manning?s to friends visiting the city of New Orleans. On the other hand, if you want to get a glimpse of Archie or Cooper Manning?or want to see a great collection of sports memorabilia, go eat and enjoy.

Kansas' Thomas Robinson leads AP All-America team
Kansas forward Thomas Robinson has even more in common with Blake Griffin now. Not everything, though.
Robinson, who played through personal tragedy as a sophomore reserve, capped his junior season by being a unanimous selection to The Associated Press' All-America team Monday, a day after leading the Jayhawks to the Final Four.
The 6-foot-10 Robinson averaged 17.9 points and 11.8 rebounds this season and he was a first-team pick by all 65 members of the national media panel that selects the weekly Top 25.
The last unanimous pick was Griffin in 2009.
"It's a blessing to be named even in the same category as Blake Griffin," Robinson said. "For that to happen, I'm glad all the hard work is paying off."
Robinson did find some similarities between them besides being Big 12 Player of the Year.
"That man jumps out the gym. He looks like a superhero when he takes off," Robinson said. "But we both try to be aggressive. He knows what he does well. I feel the same way. I know what I do well."
Joining Robinson on the first team were Jared Sullinger of Ohio State, the first repeat All-America in three years, freshman Anthony Davis of Kentucky, Draymond Green of Michigan State and Doug McDermott of Creighton.
Davis received 63 first-team votes while Green, the lone senior on the team, got 53. Sullinger had 30, one more than McDermott. The voting was done before the NCAA tournament.
Robinson received nationwide support as a sophomore when he lost his mother, grandmother and grandfather in a three-week period. He not only became a starter this season, he became a star.
"It's an unbelievable honor for a kid that came as a semi-highly recruited guy, played seven minutes as a freshman, 10 minutes as a sophomore, endured the tragedies he's had and then somehow made so many sacrifices, not only for the betterment of himself but the betterment of all of us.," Kansas coach Bill Self said. "To be unanimous, it's just something that blows me away."
Robinson is Kansas' first All-America since Wayne Simien in 2005.
The 6-9 Sullinger, who was selected East Regional as he led the Buckeyes to the Final Four, is the first repeat All-America since North Carolina's Tyler Hansbrough in 2009.
"It means a lot when your name is with Tyler Hansbrough, Psycho T. He was a great basketball player," Sullinger said with a big smile as he used Hansbrough's nickname. "It means a lot. I think it's a credit to my teammates."
Sullinger, the first player to repeat as a freshman and sophomore since Chris Jackson of LSU in 1989 and 1990, averaged 17.6 points and 9.3 rebounds while shooting 53.9 percent from the field. He is the fourth Ohio State player to repeat joining Jerry Lucas, Robin Freeman and Garry Bradds. Buckeyes coach Thad Matta said it's no surprise Sullinger has already sealed a place in the history of the program.
"I think that's one of what was important to us when Jared came here," Matta said. "We knew he was going to be a special player. And to see him get these accolades he has received and won at the level he's won at speaks volumes to the player he is and that select category and only being a sophomore let's you know what a great player he is."
Davis burst onto the national scene as part of the Wildcats team that spent most of the season ranked No. 1 in the poll and then entered the NCAA tournament as the overall No. 1 seed. The 6-10 Davis was chosen the Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 14.3 points, 10 rebounds and 4.6 blocks while shooting 64.2 percent from the field.
The last Wildcats to be first-team selections were freshmen John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins in 2010. At least one freshman has been on the first team five of the last six years.
"It means a lot, especially for a freshman," Davis said before admitting he surprised himself this season. "I thought I would just come in here and hit a couple of shots, block a couple of shots, get a couple of dunks. I never thought I would be this successful in college."
He said he has been successful because of opportunities.
"My teammates have been doing a great job of giving me the ball," he said. "And basically, all the teams that were driving inside, giving me a chance to get blocks. We're just out there having fun."
The 6-7 Green averaged 16.1 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.5 steals while doing everything the Spartans needed on the way to sharing the Big Ten regular season title, winning the conference tournament and being a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.
He is Michigan State's fourth first-team selection joining Magic Johnson, Shawn Respert and Mateen Cleaves.
"It's an honor because those are the guys who I looked up to, paved the way for me, starting with Magic and going to Respert and Cleaves," Green said. "Those guys, every time I walk into the gym I see their names up in the rafters and that's a goal that everyone has who's playing. Just being mentioned in the same sentence with those guys means a lot. All of them are winners, all of them are great players and all of them are successful and great people."
McDermott is Creighton's first All-America and he joins three-time selection Pete Maravich of LSU as All-Americas coached by their fathers.
The 6-7 sophomore was third in Division I in scoring with a 23.2 average. He averaged 8.2 rebounds and shot 61 percent from the field, including 49.5 percent from 3-point range.
"It's really special. It really hasn't hit me yet. Later down the road it will," McDermott said of his selection. "It's something real cool to be in the company of some of those names. Creighton never had one. It's really cool to be able to be the first, especially with all the great players who have been at Creighton over the years."
Coaching a son who is the star of the team did bring about a different problem for Greg McDermott.
"It could be a situation where if your son was a borderline player that your fans get upset if you put him in the game," he said. "Our fans get upset if I take him out."
Junior guard Isaiah Canaan of Murray State was joined on the second team by seniors Marcus Denmon of Missouri, Tyler Zeller of North Carolina, Jae Crowder of Marquette and Kevin Jones of West Virginia.
Sullinger was the only member of the preseason All-America team to make any of the postseason teams. Harrison Barnes of North Carolina, Jeremy Lamb of Connecticut and Jordan Taylor of Wisconsin were honorable mentions. Terrence Jones of Kentucky was the fifth member of the preseason team.

WASHINGTON (AP) ? The Supreme Court will begin hearing arguments on Monday over President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, derisively labeled "Obamacare" by its opponents. A look at how the case will unfold before the court in question-and-answer form:
Q: What's this all about?
A: The Supreme Court is hearing a challenge to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, which is Obama's signature domestic achievement. Passed by Congress in 2010, its aim is to provide health insurance to more than 30 million previously uninsured Americans, while trying to restrain costs and prevent disruptions to the majority already with coverage. Opponents say the law is unconstitutional; their chief argument is that Congress does not have the power to force unwilling Americans to buy health insurance or pay a fine.
Q: When will the court get started?
A: Justices will begin hearing arguments shortly after 10 a.m. EDT Monday, March 26. They will hear six hours of arguments on several different issues on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Q: Which issues on which days?
A: Monday's 90-minute argument is about whether court action is premature because no one yet has paid a fine for not having health insurance. Tuesday's two-hour argument will cover the central issue of whether Congress overstepped its authority by requiring Americans to purchase health insurance starting in 2014 or pay a penalty. Wednesday's arguments will be split into two parts: Justices will hear 90 minutes of debate in the morning over whether the rest of the law can take effect even if the health insurance mandate is unconstitutional and another hour Wednesday afternoon over whether the law goes too far in coercing states to expand the federal-state Medicaid program for low-income people by threatening to cut off federal aid to states that don't comply.
Q: When will the justices rule?
A: The court could decide any time, but complex cases argued in the spring normally produce decisions near the end of the court's session, scheduled for late June.
Q: Is it possible that the justices won't decide whether the law is constitutional or not?
A: It is possible. The first issue the court is discussing is whether an obscure tax law makes it too early for the Supreme Court to get involved. If they decide that the issue is premature, then the case will be dismissed without a binding ruling from the justices.
Q: What did lower federal courts say?
A: The 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Atlanta ruled that Congress overstepped its authority when lawmakers passed the insurance mandate, the only appeals court to come to that conclusion. The 6th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals in Cincinnati upheld the entire law, as did the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit in Washington, D.C. The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Richmond, Va., ruled that the question was premature and the law can't be challenged in court until after 2015, when the first penalties for not having insurance would be paid.
Q: Who are the justices on the Supreme Court?
A: The chief justice is John Roberts, who joined the court in 2005 after being nominated by President George W. Bush. In order of seniority, the other justices are Antonin Scalia (confirmed in 1986 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan), Anthony Kennedy (1988 by Reagan), Clarence Thomas (1991 by President George H.W. Bush), Ruth Bader Ginsburg (1993 by President Bill Clinton), Stephen Breyer (1994 by Clinton), Samuel Alito (2006 by President George W. Bush), Sonia Sotomayor (2009 by Obama) and Elena Kagan (2010 by Obama.)
Q: Who will be arguing for the law?
A: Solicitor General Donald B. Verrilli, Jr. will argue for the government on Monday and Tuesday. Deputy Solicitor General Edwin S. Kneedler will present part of the government's case on Wednesday, and Verrilli will do the rest. Bartow Farr III, will also argue that if government cannot require people to buy health insurance, all other provisions of the law can go into effect. Another court-appointed lawyer, Robert Long, will also argue that the lawsuits challenging the insurance purchase requirement are premature because the penalty has yet to be imposed.
Q: Who will be arguing against the law?
A: Representing Florida on Monday will be Washington appellate lawyer Gregory G. Katsas. Former Solicitor General Paul Clement, now in private practice, will represent Florida on Tuesday and Wednesday. Former Justice Department attorney Michael A. Carvin will represent the National Federation of Independent Businesses.
Q: Can I go watch the arguments, and if I can't make it to Washington, can I watch on television or online?
A: The Supreme Court does not allow live television or radio broadcasts from inside its building, so the only way Americans can actually see or hear the arguments live is to be inside the courtroom while lawyers and justices debate. There are seats reserved inside the courtroom for members of the public on a first-come, first-served basis, with some people allowed to stay for the entire argument while others have to leave the courtroom and give their seats to the next people in line after 3-5 minutes. Q: What type of health care do the justices get, and will they be affected by their ruling?
A: The justices participate in the same health care plan as members of Congress and other federal workers. As participants in an employee-sponsored health care plan, it is unlikely that whatever decision the Supreme Court makes will substantially affect their personal health care insurance.
Q: I've heard people say that Justices Elena Kagan and Clarence Thomas should take no part in this case? What's that about?
A: Opponents of the law wanted Kagan to disqualify herself because she served as solicitor general under Obama when the health care overhaul law was conceived and passed. She has said she did not participate in crafting a legal defense for the law, but her detractors doubt her statement. Thomas' detractors insist that he should have disqualified himself because his wife, Ginni, worked with groups that opposed the new law.
Decisions to stay out of a case are the responsibility of each individual justice, and neither Kagan nor Thomas justice stepped aside.
Roberts said in his 2011 year-end report that he has "complete confidence in the capability of my colleagues to determine when recusal is warranted. Mularkey insists Jaguars wanted QB Tebow
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) ? Jacksonville Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey insists he wanted quarterback Tim Tebow.
Speaking before a fan event Thursday night, Mularkey indicated that reports saying otherwise were false.
"Don't believe everything you hear or read in the media," Mularkey said. "It's hard not to want a guy like that. We wouldn't have tried to trade for him if we didn't feel like we didn't want to have him here. There were a lot of things that went into this thing to try to get Tim to come here.
"In the long run, it did not work out. But if you do not want a player, you don't even get involved with it."
There were reports that Jacksonville's front office and coaching staff didn't really want Tebow. Owner Shahid Khan certainly did, telling general manager Gene Smith to explore a trade for the polarizing quarterback.
The Jaguars offered a fourth-round draft pick for Tebow, but the former Florida star ended up going to the New York Jets for two picks.
So if the Jaguars really wanted Tebow, who grew up in Jacksonville, why not give up a third-round pick?
"That's confidential," he said. "The draft is how you build a football team and that's what we're going to continue to do. That's been the philosophy of this franchise; that's my philosophy. You've got to be very careful what you start doing with draft picks and we feel strongly about the draft."
The Jaguars have drafted three starters ? defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, cornerback Derek Cox and guard Will Rackley ? in the third round the last three years under Smith. They also chose defensive tackle D'Anthony Smith, who has yet to play a down in the regular season because of injuries.
Mularkey said internal talk about acquiring Tebow included him coming in as a backup QB. The coach declined to say whether the Jaguars intended to use Tebow mostly on special teams.
"Some of that's confidential to talk about, but we talked about all scenarios as far as the backup quarterback," Mularkey said. "He has some rare ability to do some things and all of that was discussed."
Mularkey also called starter Blaine Gabbert and recently signed backup Chad Henne during all the trade talk Wednesday.
"I wanted to make sure they were updated with where things are and where they aren't, and that what we told them from the beginning had not changed," Mularkey said. "We wanted to reconfirm it. We hadn't been in contact with (Gabbert) for a number of weeks because of the way the new CBA is, but I just thought with the way things were going down it was important he heard from me and my belief in him and that why we brought him here had not changed."

Why food is an important part of the culture | The Cross-Cultural ...
In our essay we have studied and compared the food culture of three different countries; Sweden, Italy and Japan. The three countries represent one type of culture each: Sweden is a performance-oriented culture while Italy is a relationship-oriented culture and Japan is a group-oriented culture. Our aim was to research if, and how, the social structure is mirrored in the way people eat; who they eat with, who prepares the food, and if eating is seen as nutrition or if building relationships over food is more important. We also wanted to research the question the other way around; by looking at the food culture of a country, can you learn something about the overall culture?
For the research, three of the four original Cultural Dimensions developed by Geert Hofstede were helpful. According to Hofstede?s Individualism dimension, Japan is a rather collectivistic culture, that puts the well-being of the group prior to the individual?s own interests. It is common in Japan that work colleagues eat together after the working day is over, when they can put work tasks aside and focus on starting and maintaining good relationships within the group.
Furthermore, on Hofstede?s dimension for Masculinity vs. Femininity, Italy scores relatively high. This correlates with the Italian tradition of mothers passing on family recipes to their daughters. In many families, the kitchen is the women?s arena where women from several generations together prepare family dinners. Worth mentioning though is the fact that the younger generation of Italian women in many cases focus on their career, and that traditional gender roles are somewhat changing.
The third and last cultural dimension we examined in this essay was Uncertainty Avoidance. Sweden scores low on this scale, meaning that Swedes feel they have little need to know what the future holds. From this we can draw a parallell to the fact that dishes from foreign food cultures easily adaptes into the Swedish food culture. Some of them, for instance the Italians pizza and tacos from Mexico, have in fact made it into becoming a vital part of the Swedish food culture.
Our main conclusion in this essay was that yes, you can in fact learn about a country?s culture by studying the food culture that is a part of it. It can show the population?s view on such central values as relationship building, men and women?s roles in both family and society, and degree of openness towards other cultures. Furthermore, since relationships are often established and maintained in social situations were food holds a central place, missing the food culture is missing a vital part of becoming integrated into a new culture.
